CICS Transaction Server systems administration

This is the definitive administration course for all those who have responsibility for CICS administration on CICS/TS systems.

At the end of the course, the student should have a good understanding of the workings of CICS and be able to:

  • Perform all CICS administration duties;
  • Use CEDA transaction to dynamically define resources;
  • Understand resource naming conventions;
  • Maintain the macro coded table entries;
  • Explain the effect parameters have on performance, reliability and availability.

Training method

The course combines formal tuition with a series of practical exercises. Over the course of the week attendees build and operate a CICS/TS system from scratch.

Attendees are encouraged to bring along the System Initialization Table macros and Overrides for a couple of production CICS regions - If Transaction Routing and/or Function Shipping is being used then a SIT and Overrides for a TOR, AOR and DOR would be welcome.

Duration

5 days.

Course leader
