Modern data warehousing and business intelligence
This one-day course offers a conceptual overview of the data warehouse.
All the characteristics and possibilities of data warehousing are treated: definitions, myth and reality, key concepts, implementation and exploitation strategies.
What does datamining mean and what are the possibilities now? Several types of products can be of use (cleaning, loading, extraction, ...). An architecture is essential, so some time will be spent on that.
No public sessions are currently scheduled. We will be pleased to set up an on-site course or to schedule an extra public session (in case of a sufficient number of candidates). Interested? Please let us know.
IT personnel, those persons in charge of the set-up of a warehouse, managers ...
Some background on (relational) database management systems is a plus (see course SQL and relational databases fundamentals).
- Historical background
explanation of the key concepts (datamart, DSS, OLAP, MDBMS, ...)
- Data warehouse infrastructure:
Back end ETT/ETL), Data Store, Front end Tools, Meta Data

- Designing a data warehouse:

Theory alternated with practical examples.
Kris Van Thillo.
Good course material, and thorough and clear presentation from the instructor, Kris Van Thillo. This course added a lot of value to my understanding of the modern data warehousing concepts. Very good command and clarity in English of the instructor.
prima om inzichten te verwerven in de verschillende aspecten van het hoe en waarom opzetten van een data warehouse en hoe om te gaan met verschillende types van data
A lot of theory but with good examples. It was really easy to understand
